Sony Ericsson Xperia X3: Android phone with WVGA

It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for an Android (or Nokia) mobile phone that has a display screen with a landscape width of at least 800 pixels. Well it seems I’m not going to wait a lot longer if the rumored Sony Xperia X3 mobile phone is going to be released soon. Looks like the Xperia X3 is going to be an Android OS based mobile phone.

From the photos of expansys, the Xperia X3 has a sleek contour and looks very gorgeous. Some of the other features include an 8 megapixel camera and HSDPA up to 10Mbps.

Expansys is now accepting pre-orders from their website. People from the US might have to wait for a US version though since the version available for pre-order from Expansys only works in Europe and parts of Asia if you want to use HSDPA. GSM should work globally though since it has a quadband radio for GSM/GPRS. It has HSDPA maxxing at 10Mbps and HSUPA at 2Mbps.

sony-ericsson-xperia-x3-01The display is posted at 800×400 pixels at 4-inches. The 8 mega-pixel camera is auto-focus with an 8x digital zoom capability, image stabilizer, smile shutter, face detection and LED flash. VGA video recording is available although it is unclear at what frame rate.

The usual support for music formats include MP3, AAC, eAAC+, while ringtones available at Monophonic, Polyphonic (64), MP3 and AAC formats.

Usual messaging like SMS and email with support for MS Exchange plus MMS with video.

Internal memory size is not available right now. MicroSDHC external storage is also mentioned but no indication of the maximum size supported.

Connectivity is via miniUSB, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11g) and the well-loved 3.5mm AV connector. It also has AGPS.

All in all it looks a really very promising Android-based connected phone from Sony Ericsson. I hope Sony Ericsson comes out with the official word soon. This will also in a way confirm the WVGA support of Android. You can get more info about pre-ordering it from the Expansys site.
