Apple, the iPhone and AT&T has been in the news a lot lately and most of the news aren’t good at all. The recent pull out of Google Voice (a great service that I hope I’d see getting available in the Philippines) from the Apple App Store has finally put a nail in the coffin for Michael Arrington to dump his iPhone/AT&T service. He’s not the first of the web’s popular figures to do so. For instance, GigaOM’s Om Malik has also decided to stop using his iPhone .broken-hearted-iphoneAnd also recently, Steven Frank , a Mac developer and of the Panic / Coda fame, has gotten so furious about the Google Voice debacle that he decided to stop using his iPhone.

With all the issues that have been piling up lately against the iPhone, Apple and AT&T, will these recent pullouts of popular online people finally also put a nail on the coffin between the Apple / AT&T tie-up that led to the exclusive offering of the iPhone in the US? The recent action of the US FCC, which has finally stepped into the matter , hopes to finally find some answers to the ongoing clamour for better service from the existing iPhone users in the US.

Everyone hopes the issues get resolved soon for the sake of the users. I think a lot of people will agree that Apple’s iPhone has a good interface, inspite of its initial shortcomings like cut and paste. And for the sake of the Apple iPhone developers, we hope that the FCC action will shed some light into the matter — if Google Voice got sacked who knows what else can happen.
