Cellphone eLoad from US/Canada to Philippines – no extra charge
Here’s a service that I’ve just read from TechCrunch about a service that’s been up for a while and hopes to provide a solution to prepaid mobile phone subscribers in the Philippines and India. The service allows people living in the United States or Canada to send a pre-paid load to someone in the Philippines by using the Internet or his/her mobile phone and a credit card. The service hopes to provide Filipino relatives living in the US / Canada to save money from charges incurred using the wire transfer service. Normally, before the service was launched, Filipinos in the US / Canada would have to wire-transfer money to the Philippines for reloading mobile phones. Wire transfers are very expensive especially considering the fact that it costs almost half the amount one would normally be sent for a mobile phone reload.
You can just use a service launched by Aryty. Aryty, pronounced “All Righty”, allows you to send and request mobile phone credits using your mobile phone or the Internet. Aryty lets you make secure transfers directly into a recipient’s prepaid mobile account. The service is free to try and powered by Gorilla Mobile, a New York-based company.
You can send a prepaid load to any Globe, Smart or Sun Cellular mobile phone in the Philippines. The process is simple, just sign-up and after signing up, you just specify the mobile phone number you want to send an eload, the amount and a nickname to use to identify you as the sender. You can read detailed instructions on how to send the eload from the Aryty how to page.
A free trial is currently ongoing when you register for the service.
