I was able to get a copy of the upcoming Tweeteev for the Android open mobile platform so I took it for a spin to find out what these guys are busy doing. The copy I got was still alpha quality so some of the things you’ll read and see on this post may change. With all the twitter clients around the net, I got curious as to what Tweeteev can offer to Twitter users. As you might expect in a twitter client, Tweeteev includes the following basic features like reading your current tweets, direct messages you have received and sent, replies you have sent. Upon starting Tweeteev, you’ll also see a “Start New Search” button that allows you to create and save search terms besides being able to search Twitter.
The opening screen or dashboard shows a big logo of Tweeteev and some buttons to perform several of its functions. I would have preferred it to be something that will allow me to quickly see info of my currently active account (Tweeteev lets you setup multiple accounts). The logo is nice but since I have limited screen reality, I want to have more efficient use for it.
When you click on the “New Tweets” button, you’ll see a list of your current timeline. Clicking on one of the messages will show you some details about the author of the tweet like location of the author and following/follower stats plus several actions like sending a direct message, marking it as a favorite, replying or retweeting it. Being able to have the ability find out the actual url of a shortened url would have been a good feature.
To post a status, click on the Andoid phone menu button and then click on new tweet. I would have preferred being able to send a tweet up front instead of having it two clicks away. When posting a status, you can “add a photo” or location when you click on the Android Menu button.
One nice feature of Tweeteev is finding the location of nearby friends (I’m assuming the friends are also using Tweeteev). Should be a nice feature for meet-ups. Other features include being able to search for users and list the current trends in twitter.
Overall, Tweeteev gives you an alternative Twitter client on the Android open mobile platform. It’s still alpha and a lot of things may change. I would like to be able to see more of it once it hits the beta stage.
Here’s some screen shots of Tweeteev:
