Android SDK version 2.1 now available
A few days after the launch of the Google Nexus One mobile phone, the Android team has released version 2.1 of the Android SDK which is named “Flan”. The updated SDK is currently found only one the Google N1 superphone. But it should soon find its way into the other Android phones on the market via online updates. This includes Motorola’s popular Milestone Android mobile phone currently available in the US as the Motorola Droid under Verizon.

Although the new version 2.1 of the Android SDK may be considered as a minor update it does offer some very cool new features that will surely enhance the user experience of Android mobile phone users. One of the new features is called live wallpapers which offers users some icing on the UI. Live wallpapers allow Android mobile phone owners to install wallpapers on their phone that are dynamic. Live wallpapers together with the Nexus One also showcase the 3D capabilities of the Android platform.
Other notable additions include expanded voice recognition. Voice recognition now includes the ability to convert voice to text as inputs to text fields where Android mobile phone owners would normally have to type in the text. Previously voice recognition works only as voice search. A new launcher and added home screen is also now available plus some WebKit API changes.
