iPhone HD unveiling in 2010 WWDC
Today is the start of the 5-day Apple 2010 Worldwide Developer Conference in Moscone West San Francisco. This year there are several announcements from Steve Jobs that most people in the tech world have been waiting for. I am particularly interested because I believe that the news coming out of the conference will have a very important impact in the mobile industry.
Here’s a list of some of the things I (and most probably everyone else) am expecting from Apple:
iPhone HD
It has almost always been a given that every year Apple announces it next generation iPhone. This year is a bit more exciting than the others. Not only because of the leaked 4th generation iPhone prototypes but because of what new hardware Apple is bringing into the table. Based on what I’ve been reading up on the Net, the model will be called iPhone HD. So far, it seems that it will now have a front facing camera which means that things like video conferencing and Skype calls will become a reality on the iPhone platform.
The other exciting thing is the CPU power and display resolution the new iPhone HD will have. From the looks of it the new iPhone will have 4x as much pixels than the current iPhones. This will effectively double the resolution making graphics and text a lot more crispier!
iPhone 4.0 SDK
Apple has been slow to include features into its iPhone OS mobile platform. If you have been following the evolution like I do, you’ll know that Apple took it’s time implementing things like cut and paste into its platform. But personally, I think it was worth the wait. I would say that the iPhone’s cut & paste, cursor movement / text zoom, intelligent keyboard, multi-touch features simply blows away its competition. I have yet to see other platforms come close.
This year, it’s all about background third party apps. When iPhone OS 4.0 finally goes into production, we may very well see some pretty great apps in spite of the limited backgrounding features.
I’m also very excited about HD video and video communications coming into the iPhone platform.
Yahoo Search
So far, Google has been the default search for the iPhone. I’ve read some news that Yahoo will be replacing Google. This is actually one thing where I’m a bit apprehensive. I still think that Google search is still the best of breed and it’s better to have the best on the iPhone.
Other news that I’m also expecting is may be an upgraded Mac OS X which will bring it to version 10.7. Another thing is if the a new iPod Touch will now have a camera. I guess I’ll just have to wait a few more hours to find out.
