Together with Yahoo Mail for Android, Yahoo also released an Android app for its instant messaging service called Yahoo Messenger. You’ll find the Yahoo Messenger app’s user interface is consistent with that of Yahoo Mail. The features for Yahoo Messenger are very basic.
You will be able to view your list of buddies and start an online chat with them. You also have a button to access Yahoo Mail from the app. If all your online friends are on Yahoo, then Yahoo Messenger may very well be the instant messaging app for you to download. Just search for “Yahoo Messenger” from the Android Market.
What would have been a very nice feature to have on the Yahoo Messenger app is the ability to do a video chat on your mobile phone with your online Yahoo Messenger buddies.
Other nice features that would also be great are feature such as that found on the desktop version like Voice chat and other VoIP functions like “Phone In” and “Phone Out” which I have been waiting to happen.
Putting such features would make Yahoo services even more popular and at par with services like Skype and Fring.
