New Android Market payment options soon

Mobile phone sales based on Android open mobile platform has been growing steadily. With phone manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericsson churning out Android phones in full force, more and more people are getting aware of the power of an Android based phones.

Of course all these powerful Android mobile phones become more useful because of their ability to run different types of mobile apps much like our desktop computers. Google has created the Android Market to allow Android users to centrally find mobile apps. One of the hindrances to the current state of the Android Market is its limited ability allow users to buy mobile apps. Most countries are limited to downloading and installing only FREE apps. It looks like that will be changing soon…

Google has just published some changes to the current Android Market Developer Distribution Agreement (DDA). From the article, it looks like its in preparation for some work on offering new payment options. This may very well be a welcome thing for Android developers who have been long waiting for being able to sell Android apps in their respective countries.

Below is a highlight of the changes:

  • In Section 13.1, “authorized carriers” have been added as an indemnified party.
  • Section 13.2 is new in its entirety, covering indemnity for payment processors for claims related to tax accrual.

You can read more about it from the Android Developer’s blog.
