Samsung Galaxy S Android phone sales reaches 500,000 in Korea alone

Samsung’s popular Galaxy S Android phone has just reached a great milestone. After only 1 month in the South Korean market, SK Telecom which is the exclusive seller of Samsung’s Galaxy S mobile phone has announced that unit sales is now over 500,000.

In comparison, the hugely popular iPhone 3GS by Apple didn’t reach 500,000 sales in Korea until it had been out for four months.

“We believe such an achievement was possible because of the product’s quality coupled with the strong networks of SK Telecom,” said Bae Jun-dong, a senior vice president at SK Telecom.

Samsung currently ranks 5th in global market share for smartphones. This may soon change the tide thanks to the global acceptance of the Galaxy S Android phone.
