Global updates coming to Symbian 5 and Symbian 3.2

Good news for those who use Nokia phones running on Symbian 5 or Symbian 3.2 – an update is coming to these mobile phones according to Nokia.

It seems that Nokia hasn’t forgotten its Symbian users in spite of the Windows Phone direction that they are now talking. To give you an idea, Symbian 3.2 based Nokia phones include the Nokia E72, E52, E5, C5-00 and the Nokia 6700 slide.

Symbian 5.0 Nokia phones included in the update are the Nokia C6-00, C5-03, 5230, Nokia 5235, 5250, X6, N97 mini, 5530 XpressMusic and my beloved Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

Missing BlackBerry App World icon after upgrade

If you just upgraded to BlackBerry App World™ storefront v2.1.2.15 and the icon is suddenly missing on your phone, there’s a fix for that.

For those of you who are using a BlackBerry® smartphone with BlackBerry® Software v4.6 and v4.7, your BlackBerry App World icon may have disappeared after installing the update. You can get it back by downloading the released fixed which is BlackBerry App World v2.1.2.19.

Nokia phones to get Windows Phone 7.1

Microsoft has announced that next iteration of the Windows Phone operating system will be used on the first Nokia with Windows Phone device. Microsoft also announced some of the new features that will come with version 7.1 aka ‘Mango’ release of the their Windows Phone OS. The features focus on communications, smarter apps and better internet.

New Android Market payment options soon

Mobile phone sales based on Android open mobile platform has been growing steadily. With phone manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericsson churning out Android phones in full force, more and more people are getting aware of the power of an Android based phones.

Of course all these powerful Android mobile phones become more useful because of their ability to run different types of mobile apps much like our desktop computers. Google has created the Android Market to allow Android users to centrally find mobile apps. One of the hindrances to the current state of the Android Market is its limited ability allow users to buy mobile apps. Most countries are limited to downloading and installing only FREE apps. Use Palm's Graffiti on Android phones

If you’re one of those who remember or use Palm’s PDA (personal digital assistant), you know about Graffiti. It’s Palm’s input method. Back then, the use of a virtual keyboard as an input method is not something popular.

Well, Graffiti is now available as an alternative input method for Android mobile phones. Access Inc., who has rights to the technology, has created an mobile app that you can install on your Android phone. The app provides Graffiti as an alternative input to Android devices.

iSync Nokia N900 Maemo with Mac OS X Addressbook / Calendar

I’ve finally gotten a replacement Nokia N900 mobile phone from WomWorld / Nokia yesterday. The first thing I tried out on the N900 when I got it up and running yesterday was the web browser. I tried browsing the Connected Phone site to see if it will render properly on the N900 and it did. Before starting off several articles about the Nokia N900, I thought I’d post something about syncing the Mac OS X addressbook and calendar with the Maemo based Nokia N900.

Sync Nokia Phones with iTunes music and iPhoto on Mac OS X

After having been able to sync my Contacts with my Mac notebook using iSync, I was surprised that I could actually also sync the music on my Symbian based Nokia 5800 ExpressMusic mobile phone with my iTunes music library in Mac OSX. Being a long time Linux user, I had always find it easy to sync my phone’s music files with Ubuntu’s Rhythmbox. It’s was just a matter of being able to mount my Nokia mobile phone as a USB storage device in Ubuntu.
