barrioSquare: FourSquare N900 Maemo app

Chris over at Chili Technologies has started working on a FourSquare app that will run on the N900 mobile phone’s Maemo platform. For the uninitiated, FourSquare is a web service that lets you “check-in” your location when you visit certain places like restaurants, coffee shops, bars, homes, offices. People who checks-in the most number of times in a location gets to be tagged as the location mayor. FourSquare, together with partners, also offers incentives when visiting certain locations.

The FourSquare Maemo app called barrioSquare is in it’s early stages and uses Python and QT bindings for Maemo. Chris is looking for help in developing the mobile app. If you’re interested you can contact him here. Once the barrioSquare app is up and running, FourSquare will be one of those location-based social app that will be available on major mobile platforms.
