I’ve been using my Android based Samsung Spica aka GT-I5700 for several months now. Although the Samsung Spica available in the market as of now uses Android 1.5, I decided to flash and install an Android 2.1 firmware on my Spica. The upgrade to Android version 2.1 was well worth it because of the numerous features available on Android 2.1. One thing I was missing though was a quick access to setting like Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS in one screen. Although Samsung created a small app to allow such access, it wasn’t quite as productive as the Quick Settings mobile app I found in the Android Market.

With the increasing use of connected phones, especially with its higher resolution screens, instant messaging on mobile phones has increased in popularity. Mobile network providers has also opened up their networks to encourage people to use their cell phones to connect to the Internet. I compiled a list of available instant messaging software applications that you can install/use on your mobile phone so that you can communicate with your online buddies, friends and family. Some has even provided support for the popular social networks like Twitter and Facebook.
